Getting started - surfing the Internet After you install Microsoft Internet Explorer, double-click the Internet icon on your desktop. Internet Explorer starts, displaying your start page, your starting point for browsing the World Wide Web. Your start page is initially set to the MSN home page, which you can easily customize to suit your interests. To begin browsing, just click any hyperlink on the screen. A new page opens, with new information and new links. What is a hyperlink? A hyperlink, or link, is a word or picture that you can click to "jump" to another page on the Web. Often a hyperlink stands out as bold or colored text, but the real way to tell if something is a hyperlink is to move your mouse pointer over it. If the cursor changes to a hand, then it's a hyperlink and you can click it. The buttons at the bottom of this page are hyperlinks. d
